Aloe Vera Smoothie Bowl

Aloe Vera Smoothie Bowl

I’ve been obsessed with smoothies recently. However, drinking them isn’t always satisfying because they disappear too quickly! So now I’m all about the smoothie bowls. You have to admit, eating a smoothie is much more satisfying than drinking one, am I right or am I right? I recently discovered a Japanese-style aloe vera yogurt called Alove (I live near Japantown so I first saw it at the Japanese supermarket, where I occasionally go for all my Asian grocery needs) and thought it would make a great smoothie bowl. Aloe vera is super refreshing and this yogurt is very light and silky. It’s delicious by itself but it’s even better blended with fruit and topped with granola.

For this recipe, I opted for the strawberry flavor since I wanted to make a berry bowl (before berry season ends). Alove also have original, vanilla, blueberry, peach, and kiwi flavors. This recipe allows you to be creative and customize the toppings. It’s also extremely easy to make (as in it only takes a couple minutes) and pretty healthy (unless you dump an entire bag of granola on top like I do 😝). Depending on how hungry I am, I like to add nut butter and chia seeds to my bowls for some extra protein since I’m pescatarian and rarely eat enough protein. Sometimes I blend them in, other times I add them on top. It just depends on the texture you’re looking for.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s get blending!
